From Chantilly station, you head into the forest along a path that runs alongside the Piste des Lions, the training ground for France Galop\u2019s racehorses. Then the Ch\u00e2teau de Chantilly, voted France\u2019s favourite monument in 2025, comes into view.\n\nThe Nonette Valley then leads to Senlis, a superb royal town where the cobbled streets, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Remparts promenade are well worth a stop. The Halatte Forest takes over for around ten kilometres of immersion amongst beech and oak trees and sandy clearings, passing the Butte d\u2019Aumont and its fossil dune along the way.\n\nThe route passes through Verneuil-en-Halatte, runs alongside the remains of the Gallo-Roman villa at Bufosse, then crosses the Oise via a footbridge before reaching Villers-Saint-Paul and Verderonne, the gateway to the Clermont mountains.\n\nThe final few kilometres wind through pastures and woods to Breuil-le-Sec and historic Clermont, dominated by its medieval keep.
