Description

Situated on a major migratory corridor, the Oise valley is home to some exceptional wildlife: in recent years, more than 1,000 wintering birds, including several rare species, have been observed here each winter. As a result, the Ois'eau reserve has become the department's second-largest wintering site, just after the Sacy marshes.

Entente Oise-Aisne invites you to discover this ecological reserve on a specially designed educational trail.

Along the way, you'll be able to admire a wide variety of species: anatidae (such as the shelduck and the mallard), coots, mute swans, terns, redshanks, bank swallows, egrets, herons... all birds that are emblematic of aquatic environments.

The tour will also explore the flood prevention facilities, the softened banks, the restoration of reed beds and wetlands - including a pike spawning ground - as well as the facilities designed to encourage the nesting of species such as the kingfisher, the little gravelot and the common tern.

The site is also home to a remarkable flora, which is regularly monitored: aristolochia clematis, marsh marigold, epipactis, etc. Finally, this reserve is an essential ecological corridor for large fauna, linking the Bazicourt woods to the Halatte forest.
