Compiègne is surrounded by woodland stretching as far as Pierrefonds castle. To get out of the city by bike, the route runs alongside the River Oise, past the barges. It soon joins the dozens of ponds created by the exploitation of sand pits. Between Verberie and Pontpoint, a number of leisure facilities have been developed: ski lifts, fishing, swimming, birdwatching and pike spawning grounds.... It's at Pontpoint that the bikes leave the river Oise and the Route Stevenson®, skirting the Royal Abbey of Moncel before reaching the foliage of the Halatte forest.
