Departing from Chantilly-Gouvieux station (25 minutes from Paris-Nord), this route allows you to discover the treasures of the Trois Forêts massif. You start by following the Lions training track, where you can admire France Galop's thoroughbreds in the early hours of the morning, before crossing it (a compulsory, safe passage). You then head off to the Commelles ponds - moderate pace required near the Château de la Reine. The lanes and paths of the Chantilly forest then lead to the moors and pines of the Ermenonville forest. You will pass by the Butte aux Gens d'Armes (a few metres of portage), the paved route du Prince, the Parc Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the Chemin des Écrivains in Ermenonville. The transition to the Halatte forest is via Chaalis Abbey and the Valois plain via Borest and Montépilloy. The Mont Pagnotte sector (between kilometres 50 and 70) leads to a maximum altitude of 220 metres. The physical challenge of this route lies between the Gallo-Roman temple of Ognon and the obelisk of the King of Rome. The return journey to Chantilly-Gouvieux station is more leisurely. This is your chance to admire the views from the Butte d'Aumont, the velodrome (the oldest in France), the cathedral and the cobbled streets of medieval Senlis. Finally, you arrive in Chantilly to discover its fabulous heritage: the château of the Duc d'Aumale, the Grandes Écuries and its racecourse. This route is best suited to experienced cyclists equipped with gravel bikes.
